Female, spayed, 1 to 2 years old (as of 2/21/14), microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, currently at the Darien Petsmart on 75^th Street (http://stores.petsmart.com/Store/Details/422, adoption fee $110.

Nina came to ARF from a kill shelter in Indiana.  Her owners had surrendered her because they thought she was pregnant.  It turns out she was not pregnant, but she’d had a rough road to get to ARF.  The pads on her paws were frostbitten and she had a scrape on her head and she was not quite sure what to make of being in a foster home.  Her tail had been broken at its base, resulting in a couple bumps and limited tail mobility. At first, she was apprehensive with her foster parents – cuddling one minute, then hissing the next at a sound outside the door.  However, since being spayed and settling in, she has turned into a very sweet and nice little girl.  And she is little!  She only weighs about 7.5 pounds and is just a dainty little thing.  She has recently informed her foster parents that she LOVES to play with ribbon and chase the laser toy.  She is slowly meeting the other kitties in the house.  She will coo and murr at them through a gate and roll over on her back to play pawsies with them.  We think given the right circumstances and time, she’ll be great with other cats.  She seems to take a little time to acclimate to changes, but is really doing great now.  She was diagnosed with a heart murmur, but this does not seem to slow her down at all.  Since discovering the toys, she’s been playing with them full speed.  She is just a really sweet girl who would love to have a forever home, inside, with people who will love and play with her.
