Thanks for your interest in a pet from A.R.F.! If you see a pet here, they are still available for adoption and you should apply through our adoption application on our website at https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/application/
Yogi is a 9-10 week old Shiba Inu puppy. He is just over 4lbs right now, he is ridiculously adorable and amazingly sweet! He came to us from a puppy mill in Missouri where the owner had very limited time to vacate property after it was sold. People who knew him called in rescue groups because he would have shot all of the remaining dogs and puppies that he had. Yogi immediately fit in with his foster family, playing with the other dogs and puppies as well as the children. Everyone who meets him immediately falls in love with him. Yogi's first vet visit revealed a heart murmur and ARF sent him for a follow up ultrasound. It revealed this little guy has 2 heart defects, Pulmonary Stenosis and another hole type defect on the opposite side. The doctors were grateful for the 2nd defect because it is relieving pressure that normally happens with the stenosis, this guy truly is one lucky boy! The vets are optimistic about his condition and think he should have a reasonably long life if he continues to be as healthy as he is now. He does not require any medication at this time but his exercise and weight will have to be kept to a minimum. At 1 year of age another follow up ultrasound needs to be done to see changes, if any. Yogi is micro-chipped and up to date on all vaccinations. His new family will be required to enroll him in a basic obedience course of their choosing. Yogi's adoption fee is $400.
