About Abbey

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • General Color: Black with White

At approximately 12 weeks old, Abbey is a Shepherd / Newfoundland / Aussie mix and already weighs over 25 pounds!  No, she's not fat...she's just a big puppy that promises to grow into a very big dog.

Abbey is learning lots about the good life...good, nutritious food comes on a regular basis, clean, fresh water is always available, and beds are soft and warm and nice places to snuggle.  The best thing she's learned is that two-leggeds can be kind and gentle and will give him lots of love.  she is still not quite sure what to do with toys but should pick that up quickly.  Abbey has just started potty training but is a quick learner.

She has been living with his foster family's resident dogs so is being well socialized to dogs other than his siblings.  There are also cats in the foster home, but Abbey hasn't interacted with them.

She has received her first puppy shots, including bordatella, has been microchipped, and dewormed.  She is too young yet for the rabies vaccine.  Although her skin is a little dry, she did not have any fleas or ticks when she arrived.  As part of her adoption contract, Abbey's forever family will be required to have her spayed and to attend positive reinforcement obedience training with her.

So, if you are looking for a lovable big sweetheart to be your Valentine, please consider Abbey.  She isn't fattening like chocolates, and will be around a lot longer than a dozen roses.

Abbey's adoption fee will be $400.00.

Thank you for considering a rescue pet from A.R.F.-Animal Rescue Foundation! We are  based in Wheaton, IL and conduct adoption events in the DuPage County area. If you are interested in adopting one of our pets, please submit an adoption application at https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/application/

Adoption appointments are scheduled based on the order of applications received, so submit your application early! Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal but does get you a head start with the adoption approval process. Due to a high volume of applications, we are often unable to respond to questions or schedule meetings until your application has been approved. More information about our adoption process can be found on our website here: https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/

As an all-volunteer, foster home-based organization, A.R.F. Animal Rescue Foundation does not have a facility where applicants can visit our animals. Please visit https://www.arf-il.org/events/ for a list of our upcoming adoption events.

Thank you for choosing to adopt, not shop!
