Meet Nikon, our 1 to 2 year old purebred, male, Min Pin.  He has a full length tail, just like his Momma made him.  Nikon loves to be with his people, tolerates other dogs and most cats and is a delight to his foster family.  His intelligence and inquisitiveness is readily apparent just by gazing into his warm, liquid brown eyes.  He likes to snuggle with his foster Dad while watching tv (and sneak pieces of popcorn), or calmly watch from his travel kennel while Dad works on the computer or to play tug with his foster Mom over his chipmunk toy.  Nikon also enjoys spending time in the back yard running off those nasty, noisy, chuk-a-chuking squirrels.  He walks well on a leash, sits on command and is a super sweet boy who loves to find the nearest comfy lap and snuggle in.

Nikon, and his friend Sigma, were rescued by ARF from a high kill shelter in southern IL just in the nick of time.  It would have been a tragedy to loose such a beautiful soul.  Sigma has already been adopted by her forever family while Nikon is waiting and dreaming of the day he meets his furever family and can show them all the love his little body holds.  He is thankful to be out of the shelter environment and to have access to good food, clean water, toys and a warm puppy bed but yearns for his own lifelong, loving home where he can cherish his family all of his days.

His foster home has dogs ranging in size from a full size GSD to a 4 month old puppy; a full size cat and several kittens and Nikon co-exists with all of them, but we believe he would be happiest in an only dog home as he sometimes growls (typical of the breed) if he feels another animal is vying for your attention.  He has played well with well-behaved older children but has not been kid tested on children younger than eight.  True to his breed, Nikon is a good protector of the home, but is not an annoying barker, so would do well in condo, apartment or townhouse settings. 

Nikon is fully housebroken and crate trained, although he prefers to bunk with his people at night, snuggling under the covers.  He has been neutered, fully vetted, micro chipped and his adoption fee is $200.00.  All adopters are required to enroll their companion in family dog class; with his intelligence level Nikon is expected to be the head of his class.  If you feel you are the right family for our little man Nikon, fill out an online adoption form.  We will get the process started and contact you for an appointment to meet him when approval is granted.
