Hi everyone, my name is Fleetwood. Like many of my fellow shelter pets, I didn’t have the easier start to life. In July, I was found in a garage by a very nice man. I seemed to have injuries on my body and legs but the man wasn’t able to get close enough to see. He contacted ARF and they came to pick me up and get proper medical attention. Unfortunately, I had burn marks with open wounds all down the left side of my body. There were also various injuries on my ears, neck, legs, and back. The veterinarian was very worried about whether or not I could survive these injuries but my foster and I knew that I could do it with enough love and attention. The vet was very nice and gave me some antibiotics to decrease the infection. My foster made me put on a soft cone, which I didn’t like at all, because I kept licking my wounds and reopening them. It’s been quite the journey to get where I am today. I still have some hair loss, a fair share of scars, and bad memories from the past, but I’m looking forward to putting all of that behind me in a new home.

If you’re wondering about my personality, I have only good things to say about myself. I open up very quickly to new people. Even though I was in a lot of pain when I first got to my foster’s house, I was immediately receptive to getting face scratches and kisses. My foster has a 50lb dog who I don’t mind at all, and lots of other cats, which I don’t have a problem with. I’ve never been around children but I would be happy to try, as long as they understand that I have some scars and some tender places from my wounds. Even though I’m about a year old, I still love toys. I’ve fallen in love with a hanging toy with feathers and would love if my future family has one of those. My last request is a bed. I have found such great comfort in laying on my foster’s bed as I recovered from my injuries. I love nothing more than laying down around some pillows and blankets next to my foster mom.

Fleetwood is micro-chipped, up to date on all vaccinations,  neutered, and litter box trained.
